Unknown :: Paradox of Our Times

The paradox of our time in history is that we have

taller buildings but shorter tempers,
wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less,
we buy more, but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families,
more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense,
more knowledge, but less judgment,
more experts, yet more problems,
more medicine, but less wellness.

We have multiplied our possessions,
but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life.

We’ve added years to life not life to years.
We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.

We conquered outer space but not inner space.
We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less.
We plan more, but accomplish less.

We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait.
We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce,
fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers,
throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies,
and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

"If the Human Body is Obscene, Complain to the manufacturer, Not Me." ~Larry Flynt Long back while watching Discovery Channel. In a Program, I heard them say: "Our Body is Dynamic. Changes every day. Each & Every Day... ! Human Skeleton is COMPLETELY RENEWED every 10 years." *Current Research -- PMID: 8519493, PMID: 597437 [[ Pubmed IDs ]] We say that: (1) His Eyes are intense. (2) Her Smile is good. etc. IS IT FOR ALL? ...ALWAYS?? I'm trying to say that - Its All in the Eyes ! A person lying naked on the bed... can be anyone from a child to someone selling body for money. And EYES can be anything from Saintly Ignorant to Gyenocologist at Work to a Ponce to Sharp Shooter to Fighter Pilot to a Mother [[who feels - and not just See It !]] Some Child [[unable to See beyond some feet !]] to a Blind [[who still can see - WITHOUT EYES !]]... Or may be YOUR OWN EYES ! Well this Human Body as we SEE is not the same for long. Beautiful today, can be Granny tom...

Life is a possibility , embrace it . Life is beautiful , admire it . Life is wonderful , enjoy it . Life is a dream , follow it . Life is a bewilderment , face it . Life is a mission , fulfill it . Life is a game , play it . Life is a treasure , cherish it . Life is rich , savior it . Life is lovely , revere it . Life is a mystery , uncover it . Life is pain , endure it . Life is a song , sing it . Life is a tragedy , forbear it . Life is luck , benefit from it . Life is an adventure , be regardful of it . Life is very precious , delight in it . Life is a war , learn from it . Life is life , fight for it . ~MOTHER TERESA (Translated in English by Masiela Lusha, "Life")

A Man of Truth, must be a Man of Care ! ~Mahatma Gandhi Voces (1943) Translated from Spanish by W.S. Merwin A door opens to me. I go in and am faced with a hundred closed doors. He who holds me by a thread is not strong; the thread is strong. My great day came and went, I do not know how. Because it did not pass through dawn when it came, nor through dusk when it went. You are sad because they abandon you and you have not fallen. I would go to heaven, but I would take my hell; I would not go alone. My heaviness comes from the heights. Would there be this eternal seeking if the found existed? We become aware of the void as we fill it. Because they know the name of what I am looking for, they think they know what I am looking for ! A thing, until it is everything, is noise, and once it is everything it is silence. Before I travelled my road I was my road. When I die, I will not see myself die, for the first time. *** Antonio Porchia (November 13, 1886 - November 9, 1968) was an Italian...
